Essure is a metal implant designed and marketed to women for permanent birth control.​ Essure, which is shaped like a corkscrew, design contributed to its adverse reactions upon implantation.Surgery is required to remove this defective device.

• Cramping

• Swelling

• Fever

• Infection

Despite being taken off the market in 2018, Essure continued to be used, causing undue suffering in thousands of women.
